Man, this is serious, indeed. The country's former Chief Justice, Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad was factually and historically wrong!
His claim that syariah laws had absorbed principles of common law and not vice versa is completely deviating.
Coming from a former CJ and telling it to an audience at Harvard is very unbecoming, both for the university and himself.
His blinkered half-cooked legal mind saw principles of universality inherent in all laws as emananting from one source, which in this case the adoption by syariah of common law principles.
Sheesh!
